She struggles to lubro considered part of a clan in which she should not be accepted. If you read odo book, towards the end you will see why I say it like that. There are many fortunate coincidences, leaps of logic and just plain lucky happenings that are a bit far-fetched, but I was able to overlook these because they advanced the story and made it possible for Auel to give us such a rich look at what life may have been like.

They think she’s ugly and weird, but in reality she is a stunningly beautiful, tall blonde leggy woman. She is punished for this, but later is allowed to continue hunting.

El Clan del Oso Cavernario

It was very entertaining, transportive and as an author, what a project. Ayla has a child, but is left unmated.

Of course the magic described by Auel is certainly imagined more than researched, but there may well be grains os the truth scattered in. Obviously, my own reaction falls at the favorable end of the spectrum.

The story meanders along Ayla’s life, her struggles cavernarip become Clan, and her tension with Broud. Although this series is marketed as young adult I would recommend it for older teens and adults. I liked the differences that she accented between Clan and Others: Ayla, Creb, Brun – I remember them all.

She just is living with a bunch of under-evolved people who don’t cavernzrio it. Tons of information is imparted, and we are given a vivid look at what life would have looked like in Ayla’s time. The Bad I have very little to say that is negative. The story watches this outsider come of age and explores how her logical and creative mind allows her to integrate herself cavernaario a different people The Good The book contains a minimal amount of dialogue.

El Clan del Oso Cavernario by Jean M. Auel (5 star ratings)

Konezney mentioned to my mother caveranrio seeing me read this book in school – but soo was my very first emotional connection to fictional characters.

I couldn’t put it down. It was long and maybe just a little too descriptive at times View all 15 comments. Ayla is resourceful and filled with a desire to develop and learn and be excited by the world, something the Clan find hard to comprehend let alone to emanate. I don’t have that great luck with series, so I hope it does continue to carry me through to the last book.

And the setting is so unique, the writing so vibrant, that I imagine most people will find themselves engaged.

As ugly and strange to the clan as the girl seems, she b The story begins with an earthquake in the first few pages of the book that leaves a 5 year old girl alone, orphaned and wandering, on the brink of death. Auel’s descriptions of the Clan’s way of life and the land in which they live are fascinating and show the amount of research that has gone into the creation of the series. I really liked this book so much that I even acquired a copy, however, after reading it cavernairo first time, I felt deceived.

The other books in the series are fine, but not nearly as strong in my opinion.

I was never bored. I avoided it as my next book choice many times not wanting to tackle something that would take up so much time.

The story ends, wide open for book two, with Broud, the new clan leader, cursing Ayla to death. Given that the author was using words to express non verbal communication, I can’t hold it against her.

Women are basically treated like property. She also has a penchant for explicitly detailed sex, which libri my estimation is not a plus. She is almost a different species than them. I found myself gripping the steering wheel in my car as I listened to her struggle for survival.
